Online Herpes Cures Get Busted!
In a belated attack of common sense, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has decided to come down hard on US internet sellers purporting to offer a “cure” for herpes. The move is aimed at removing products such as Medavir, Herpaflor, Viruxo and C-Cure from the American market. Richard Cleland, assistant director of advertising practices at the Federal Trade Commission said: “We have reviewed the claims on the websites and have found them to be extremely problematic.” He added: “When it comes to health products, the internet can be a toxic wasteland for consumers.” Both the FDA and FTC have targeted companies with US postal addresses and sent them warning letters stating that unless they correct any legal violations (i.e. saying that their products cure herpes when manifestly they do not) within fifteen days, they will face legal action which could extend to product seizure, injunction or criminal court proceedings. While I welcome this move, I fear it will have little effect in the global marketplace. A quick internet check shows that Medavir can be bought from sites with a non-US base, that Herpaflor has replaced its US landing page with an e-mail link. Viruxo now headlines its site boldly with the statement: “There’s No Cure for Herpes Outbreaks” (before going on to trumpet the product as a cure in all but name!) C-Cure continues to be marketed as a cure for skin cancer, distributed from Sandpoint, Idaho by its founder, Dr.Leonard Horowitz. Horowitz, is a doctor of dentistry with no background in oncology or dermatology. He has taken some steps however, following the crack down. He now adds this paragraph to his website: WARNING: Do not read further, or even consider buying or using C-CURE™, if you give any credence to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), that will not allow us to freely inform you about the potentially miraculous benefits that may result from using this product as directed. The FDA may have been slow to act. It may lack the teeth I and many others would love it to have. But on this occasion it could be right to try to bring these internet “miracle cure” fraudsters to book. For starters, I just think no one should buy a product without knowing its ingredients. I would expect full transparency from a company having such claims. Also, I would expect them to at least follow through on their money back guarantees. I know several don't. Herpaflor which is now sold without any particular health claims seemed to contain interesting ingredients .This does not make it a cure and I'm not endorsing it in any way. But I don't think all products sold on the internet are bad. That said, the FDA and I have different agendas but we share something in common, we both want to protect you from people who are ready to profit from your fear, we both want you to be safe and not to take products that could end up harming your health. I personally (not sure about the FDA) don't want you to buy any product at 10 times its normal price just because it is sold as a cure. Let me be very clear. I do believe alternative therapy can work for most people. I see it happen almost on a daily basis and I recommend stuff the FDA would have me banned for if I was selling it as a product. But my experience is that natural and herbal herpes remedies can help prevent and stop herpes outbreaks. I wish I knew the one pill that could cure herpes once and for all for you. I would be the first to celebrate and tell the world about it. For example, I believe broccoli does incredible things, but it is not a cure. What I'm 100% certain of though is that a holistic approach can give exciting and long-term results with very limited side-effects or health risks. If you're one of these people who bought a $99 or even $300 product that claimed to rid you of herpes for ever for a one-time fee, I urge you to reconsider your choice now. I know a program that can help you get rid of symptoms and greatly reduce your chances of transmitting herpes. You can always look for a permanent herpes cure later. I'm living proof that you can have the herpes virus and not transmit it to your almost nine year partner and never have herpes outbreaks again. I know this may not sound like enough to you right now but at least, it's real and will not cost you $300 instead of $30.
