It contains several sources of Zinc, vitamin C, green tea, meadowfoam oil, allantoin and grape seed extract in a petroleum jelly base.

Zinc has been studied for a while as a potential treatment for or herpes. Zinc glycerolate was able to diminish cold sore symptoms and duration in one of them. Zinc oxide is also a sunscreen. So it provides protection against the sun. Vitamin C and green tea have shown anti-herpetic activity on contact. Grape seed oil is one of the better anti-oxidant, far superior to vitamin E. Allantoin has healing, soothing and anti-irritant properties and promotes growth of healthy tissues. Meadowfoam oil moisturizes the skin and provides protective barriers for skin.

Is Pure Lip cold sore remedy really efficient?

From its very good formula I would say yes. But it depends mostly on how your virus reacts to zinc. It seems you get two for the price of one with zinc here, sun protection and a treatment. Vitamin C and green tea extract are not a bad idea. Some people claim they can cure their cold sore by either applying tea bags or vitamin C powder on their cold sore. My conclusion: Pure Lip cold sore remedy is probably effective with little side effects. However the formula would be perfect if it didn't use petrolatum white as a base. Petrolatum white is a cheap, potentially carcinogen product.

Pure Lip cold sore remedy should be pleasant to use and they insists that their product doesn't make a white coat on the lips like any other zinc oxide products. So it should be quite discreet.
